Talented
comic actor John Goodman (Roseanne, The Big
Lebowski) returns to series television in this new
half-hour comedy that puts a unique twist on family
relations.
Goodman
stars as William "Butch" Gamble, a
beer-drinking, sports-loving Midwesterner who also
happens to be gay. Butch's decided to leave the
gay-friendly city of Los Angeles and return to his
Ohio hometown--filled with less tolerant family
members. His top priority is making amends with his
son, Charlie (Greg Pitts, Coyote Ugly).
While
Charlie has no problem with his dad's sexual
orientation, he has a big problem with the fact that
dad abandoned him after coming out of the closet.
Butch refuses to give up, however, and crashes with
his sister. She's a tough, sexy, single mom raising
two savvy, outspoken teens: Robbie, a NASCAR-loving
high schooler who's worried that being gay is
hereditary, and Kimberly, a book-smart beauty who's
not as comfortable around men as her mom and Uncle
Butch are.
While
Butch is ready to face his parents (who think being
gay is a "phase") and even his ex-wife and
her new husband, he's not so confident when it comes
to Charlie. If nothing else, family dinners will be
very interesting!
Normal,
Ohio airs Wednesdays this fall on FOX at 8:30
