Dot
Comedy is an innovative half-hour reality series
produced by Carsey-Werner ("3rd Rock From The
Sun", "That ë70s Show"). Inspired by
the British series of the same name, Dot Comedy is the
first American network show to celebrate the wild and
wonderful material on the World Wide Web. Itís the
best of cyberculture, a witty and humorous exploration
of Internet content that is created not only by the
countryís most gifted directors, animators and
writers, but also by the Average Person with a modem.
Dot Comedy explores
great websites, amazing animation, short films, and
the funny mpegs (video clips) and jpegs (photos) that
get sent around the world from friend to friend via
e-mail. Dot Comedy surfs the internet for you and
brings you the best, brightest and funniest in a
half-hour television show. Hosted by brothers Jason
and Randy Sklar (MTV'íS Apartment 2F and Comedy
Centralís "Battle Bots") and Annabelle
Gurwitch (TBS Host of Dinner and a Movie and HBO's Not
Necessarily The News) and with field reporting from
Katie Puckrick (Oxygenís "Pajama Party"),
Dot Comedy will be a
humorous exploration of Internet content that is
created not only by the countryís most gifted
directors, animators and writers but also by the
average user who has a modem and an imagination.
"We hope to introduce the television viewing
audience to the Internetís best, brightest and most
unique," said Executive Producer Todd Yasui.
"And in keeping with the spirit of the Internet
we are encouraging our viewers to provide us with
content by sending us their own creations- whether
it's a funny MPEG (video), JPEG (photo) or just a
great website. Who hasnít shared some hilarious gems
they found on the Internet," commented Geoffrey
Darby, president of production, Oxygen. "Thatís
what this exciting partnership with ABC is all about -
bringing to television the sometimes absurd but always
fun cyber-culture."
