What are pilots?
Pilots are typically the first
or second episode of a television show's series. Pilots
are used as a test for both the television studio and the
television networks to determine which shows have the potential
be "picked up" for next year's season. Not all
shows that tape a pilot are picked up for the season, as a
matter of fact, only a small percent are picked up for a half
season, and even fewer continue on for a year or more.
